ASUS’s TUF series gaming laptops have been quite popular among the gaming community for a while now, and this year’s models that come with Nvidia’s RTX 30 series GPUs are some great options that you can consider buying. Under a budget of 80000, you can get your hands on this reliable laptop that offers RTX 3050 and an 11th gen intel CPU.
Design and Build quality
ASUS has introduced some notable changes to the designs of this year’s TUF series laptops. The TUF F15 that we have here looks sleek and tries to avoid the heavy gamer aesthetics that many other TUF laptops have. It’s a welcome change, at least considering my personal preferences. There are two color options to choose from, Moonlight White and Eclipse Gray, and considering all the availability issues, good luck with getting your desired color option.
- The metal-lid and keyboard have some flex to them, but it’s nothing out of the ordinary.
- The WebCam has been sacrificed to provide thin side bezels.
Performance
The benchmark scores of TUF F15 are pretty decent but there’s nothing surprising or unexpected about them. The performance that you can get out of this laptop is quite similar to many other laptops in this price range. While gaming you can expect 60+ FPS in most AAA titles, but you might have to make a few compromises with graphic quality if you want to make the best use of its 144Hz display.
Having only four cores, the 11th gen i5 CPU of this laptop does seem quite weak. And considering the octa-core Ryzen 7 that comes with ASUS TUF A15, this laptop doesn’t seem a very good choice for heavy gaming and 4K video editing.
RTX 3050 is an absolute delight on this gaming laptop. Though you can’t make the best use of its power, thanks to the certain way gaming laptops work, connecting an external monitor is the way to go for those who want the best experience.

Display
- Low color accuracy- sRGB:62.5%- quite expected at this price range. Connecting an external monitor is the perfect solution if you are into color critical work.
- The display has a peak brightness of 250 nits, which feels somewhat dim during outdoor usage.
Storage options and upgradability
Out of the box, you get 8 GBs of RAM with this laptop which can be upgraded to 32GB. Making an upgrade to the RAM is recommended to get the benefits of dual-channel support.
A 512 GB SSD is available in this model and there’s also an empty slot for storage expansion.
Battery
The 76Wh battery of ASUS TUF Dash F15 is perhaps one of its biggest strengths. While gaming a typical session will last for 1.5-2 hours. During basic usage can easily expect a battery backup of 6-7 hours, which is very impressive.
Panel Power Saver mode is a neat feature that I wish more manufacturers implemented. Once turned on, the laptop automatically drops the display refresh rate to 60Hz the moment you plug out the power cord and switches back to 144Hz when you plug the cord back in.
Pros
- 144Hz display
- Great battery backup
- Impressive specs
- Excellent thermals

HP Victus has to be one of my favorite laptops that recently came out. The value for money that this laptop offers is enough for me to look past some of its drawbacks and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a reliable gaming laptop.
The Ryzen 5 processor and RTX 3050 act as a powerful duo and easily handle most of the AAA titles at 1080p.The 60Hz display is perhaps the only deal-breaker, but it shouldn’t be a problem if you are looking for nothing more than a smooth and casual gaming experience.

Lenovo’s IdeaPad gaming laptops might not be as good as looking at their Legion gaming laptops at least, that’s what I think, but they definitely provide a lot of value for your money. I recently reviewed the Ryzen 5 variant of Lenovo IdeaPad gaming 3, and I loved everything about it. The newly launched Ryzen 7 variant that we have here, however, is just on another level. Currently, it is listed for a price well under 80000 but I seriously don’t know for how long it is going to stay this way. Ryzen 7 5800H, 16GBs of RAM, a display refresh rate of 120Hz, and amazing build quality are enough for me to assure you that buying this laptop is definitely a decision that you won’t regret making.

Legion 5i is a new gaming laptop by Lenovo and it builds on everything that’s great about their y series laptops. Lenovo Legion 5i offers top of the line specs for gamers but it looks professional enough that you might mistake it for a business laptop.
Legion 5i handles every AAA with great ease, thanks to its 10th gen i7 processor and GTX 1650 GPU. Offering a clock speed of up to 2.6 GHz, the hexacore i7 processor of this laptop is one of the most powerful CPUs available in today’s laptops.
You find a perfect combination of storage capacity and speed in this gaming laptop. 1 TB HDD should be enough for storing all your favorite games, at least for the coming 1-2 years. And the 256 GB SSD makes everything, from booting up of the laptop to opening a folder on your desktop, consistently fast.
Legion i5 knows how to keep itself cool and it can maintain low temperatures even after hours of gaming. The Coldfront 2.0 cooling system works great due to its 4 exhaust channels and dual liquid crystal polymer-coated fans.
The backlit keyboard has a 1.5 mm key travel distance and it uses Anti-Ghosting to make sure that every key, you press, counts.
Audio quality is good due to a dual Harman Kardon speaker system. And there are some great audio profiles for gaming. So, even if you don’t wear high-end headphones, you won’t miss anything.
Legion 5i supports Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi 6 to make sure your internet doesn’t steal your hard-earned victory. And cable management is super easy with the help of rear input and output ports.
The 15.6-inch 1080p display of Lenovo i5 has a refresh rate of 120Hz, and the screen itself is beautiful to look at. Narrow bezels help in delivering a screen-to-body ratio of up to 84%, making every game you play more immersive than ever.

Another ASUS TUF here but I can’t help it as these laptops are so good and offer a lot at this price range. Currently, this is the cheapest laptop on this list but it easily beats most of its competitors.
The design and build of this laptop is similar to every laptop belonging to the ASUS TUF series and there’s nothing to complain about it but if you are looking for something clean and simple you can have a look at the DELL G3 3500 below.
Coming to the specs, this laptop has got many things right. The 10th gen core i5 processor has a base clock speed 2.50 GHz of 4 cores and 8 threads. And this is the best processor that you can find in a laptop belonging to this price range because currently, at the time I am writing this article, this laptop costs almost 70k.
A 512 GB SSD is all that you get in this laptop which might not be enough for you but there are two empty slots for storage expansion and the 8GB RAM too can be upgraded to 32 GB. So, ASUS has everything set to make sure that you use this laptop for a long time, and all the durability tests that ASUS TUF laptops go through just prove my point.(Nope, not sponsored by ASUS.)

Not many gaming laptops from Dell are available in this price range but here’s an option for you if you want to go for a Dell laptop. This laptop got quite popular as soon it was launched which isn’t surprising at all if you have a look at the specs and the laptop itself; it looks so good.
The 10th gen i5 processor of this laptop has 4 cores, 8 threads, and a base clock speed of 2.50GHz. And paired with the powerful GTX 1650, this laptop can handle almost every AAA game at 1080p resolution. In short, it’s a really powerful duo.
G-Key is something that Dell has been advertising a lot and it’s a really great feature. Pressing the F7 key instantly increases the CPU clock speed and the fan speed which improves the performance and tries to keep the laptop cool at the same time. However, the performance boost that you will receive also depends on the game that you are playing.
At this point, I don’t even want to talk about it but I guess I can’t skip it. This laptop has a 60Hz display.

MSI Gaming GL65 9SDK-474IN
- Screen Size -15.6 Inches
- Resolution – 1080p (Full HD)
- Refresh rate – 144Hz
- Processor Type – i7-10750H
- RAM Size -8GB

- Battery backup – 1-2 hours
From its powerful CPU and GPU duo to its tough yet elegant design, MSI GL65 is surprisingly perfect. A single look at the spec sheet and you will know why it is the best gaming laptop under 80000.
With the help of its Hexa-core 9th gen i7 processor and the GTX 1660 Ti GPU, this laptop can handle multitasking and almost every AAA game title without breaking a sweat.
GTX 1660 Ti comes with 6 GBs of VRAM, and it’s very impressive if you compare it to the 4GB GPUs offered by the other laptops. So, this laptop is future-proof and you should be able to play all the latest games for the coming 1-2 years.
16 GBs of RAM is a big surprise in this price range. And it’s great because 16 GBs of RAM is still the sweet spot for most gamers. But if you ever find yourself struggling with this ram configuration, you can upgrade it up to 64 GBs.
For storage options, this laptop has a 512 GB NVME SSD. It’s fast but not surprising because we all know how good NVMes are. So, you no longer have to wait for minutes while your game loads. Say goodbye to those loading screen tips!
The only issue you might face is storage capacity. 512 GBs is definitely not enough for gamers. Install 2-3 modern AAA titles and, you will find yourself out of storage space.
MSI GL65 has a 15.6-inch screen running at 1080p resolution. As it’s an IPS-level display, the viewing angles are perfect. The 144 Hz refresh rate is brilliant, so you can see all those extra frames for exceptionally smooth gameplay. But remember once you get used to more than 60 Hz, there’s no turning back.
The keyboard is RGB. But it isn’t normal RGB, it is per-key RGB. It means you can individually configure the RGB settings of every key. Is this feature useful and life-changing? I don’t know; maybe. But it’s definitely fun to play with.
As I have mentioned before, despite being a gaming laptop, the design and build quality of GL 65 are very elegant. It looks professional, and it’s great if you don’t want your laptop to tell everyone you meet, that you are a gamer.
Along with many other ports, this laptop has a golden audio jack. It’s golden because it’s better than other normal audio jacks, at least this is what MSI claims. It has a built-in AMP which can improve the audio quality by 30%.
Available ports:
- Three USB 3.2 Type-A ports
- One RJ45 Jack
- One SD Card Reader
- One HDMI
- One USB 3.2 Type C
Pros
- GTX 1660 Ti
- 9th gen i7 processor
- 144Hz refresh rate
- 16 GB RAM
- Impressive build quality
Cons
- Only 512 GB SSD
Verdict
As I said before, MSI GL65 is surprisingly perfect. From powerful specs to a keyboard nothing short of a rainbow, this laptop lacks nothing, making it the best gaming laptop under 80000.

Another ASUS laptop on this list, and it rightfully deserves this spot because of its Ryzen 7-4800H processor. The base clock speed of 2.9 GHz, 8 cores and 16 threads make this processor unbeatable in this price range.
You get GTX 1650Ti 4 GB graphics card with this laptop. It’s clear that this GPU isn’t as good as the RTX 2060 offered by the ASUS TUF FX505DV, but still, it’s one of the best in this price range.
It comes with 8 GBs of DDR4 RAM, which is set at 3200MHz. And I do believe that it should have been 16 GBs at this price range, but it can be upgraded to 32 GBs if you want. ASUS got the storage options right in this laptop as it comes with 1 TB SATA HDD and 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD.
The 144Hz 1080p display of this laptop is a delight for gamers. It has an IPS panel which comes with Anti-Glare technology. This laptop display supports Adaptive-Sync, which helps in reducing stuttering and screen tearing.
To keep the laptop cool while gaming, there are two anti-dust tunnels and two heat sinks in this laptop. This system is quite efficient because the two anti-dust tunnels prevent the dust build-up and ensure maximum cooling efficiency with the help of the laptop’s heat sinks.
Available ports:

The processor and display of this laptop make it one of the best in this price range, and it could have been the best gaming laptop under 80000 if it had a better GPU than GTX 1650ti.

OK! So, this is the third ASUS laptop on this list (no, this article isn’t sponsored by ASUS but, it would have been good for me if they did). The 9th gen core i7 processor and 120Hz display make this laptop one of a kind in this price range.
The GTX 1650 Ti GPU of this laptop is perhaps its only drawback because laptops with better GPUs are available in this price range. But it shouldn’t be a problem if you are not a hardcore gamer. And paired with the CPU of this laptop, this GPU can easily handle games at 1080p resolution with high settings.
Considering the CPU, the 10th gen core i7 processor is a great delight in this price range. This CPU has a base clock speed of 2.6GHz, 6 cores, and 12 threads. Simply, the best CPU that you can find in a laptop in this price range.
The 1080p display of this ASUS TUF laptop has a refresh rate of 144Hz. So from playing latest games to just scrolling through your social meed feed, everything feels smooth.
For storage options, you get a 512 GB SSD with this laptop and an extra slot for expansion. And 8GB RAM can also be upgraded to 32 GBs.

Acer Predator Triton fits perfectly in a budget of 80,000 and it delivers great performance in this price range with its powerful CPU-GPU duo.
Talking about the processor, i5-9300H is incredible with its base clock speed of 2.40GHz, 4 cores, and 8 threads.
GTX 1650ti works significantly better than GTX 1650, and it’s awesome because when you are gaming on a budget you need to get the most out of the money that you spend.

This Lenovo Legion is another gaming laptop with great specs but a refresh rate of 60Hz. WHY LENOVO? WHY?
Let’s begin with its CPU. The Core i7-9750H processor of this laptop makes it unique because very few laptops in this price range come with an i7 processor. This i7 processor has a base clock speed of 2.60GHz, 6 cores and 12 threads. Undoubtedly, a beast in this range.
The 1650 GPU is a letdown in the case of this laptop because of its processor. I know that asking for a better GPU along with the 9th gen i7 processor, in this price range might be too much. But hey, it’s my job to tell you if something’s wrong.
The audio quality of this laptop is top-notch due to the Dolby Atmos support. And in case you don’t know, Dolby atmos provides you surround sound experience and makes your gaming sessions more immersive.
Lenovo went with an unconventional WebCam placement in this laptop. It’s placed at the bottom of the screen, and due to this, the WebCam of this laptop is pretty much useless. But, it’s not a big deal because many gamers won’t have any problem with it.
The design of this laptop is quite unconventional when compared to many other gaming laptops. Its sleek and thin body is an excellent option for you if you are not a fan of bulky looking gaming laptops.
Available ports:
- Three USB 3.1 Type-A port
- One USB 3.1 Type C
- One USB 2.0 Type-A port

- 1 Kensington lock
Pros
- 9th gen i7 processor
- 1 TB SSD
- Dolby Atmos
Cons
- Only 60Hz display
Verdict
The 9th gen i7 processor of this laptop makes it one of the best in this range but you might want to stay away from this laptop due to the refresh rate of its display.
Buying Guide
8GB vs 16GB RAM
While buying a laptop under 80000, you get two options when it comes to RAM – 8 GBs or 16 GBs. And it’s highly recommended to go for a laptop with 16GBs of RAM.
16GBs of RAM was once considered overkill for laptops and PCs, but nowadays, many modern AAA games require more than 12GBs of RAM for smooth gameplay. And having more RAM makes multitasking easier for your laptop.
RAM Clock Speeds
Earlier I compared 8GB and 16 GB RAM, but there’s something more that you need to know. RAM clock speed is often overlooked while buying a new laptop or building a new PC.
RAM clock speed is measured in MHz. These days, you can easily find RAMs with a speed of more than 4000MHz, and in most cases, it ends up being overkill. However, if we talk about the budget of 80k, you can find two RAM configurations- 8GB RAM(3200MHz) and 16GB RAM(2400MHz).
Now, which ones better? Believe it or not, 8GB RAM wins in this case when it comes to gaming. 8GB RAM with a higher clock speed than 16GB RAM can easily get you more FPS. So, clock speed does matter.
It doesn’t mean that the RAM size does not matter. Having more RAM can quickly increase your system’s efficiency when it comes to multitasking.
The video given below compares 8GB and 16GB RAM at different clock speeds.
GPUs, GDDR6 vs GDDR5
The image above compares the G5 and G6 version of GTX 1650. Here, G5 and G6 denote the memory type of the GPU. And you can clearly see the difference between the boost clock speed and memory speed of two GPUs.
So, what about the performance, is there any significant difference? No, there’s no major performance difference between the G5 and G6 version of any GPU. But it doesn’t mean that there’s no difference at all. Moving from G5 to G6 variant of the same GPU, you can get an additional 2-5FPS.
1080p, good for gaming?
Yes, it’s 2023, and 1080p is still good for gaming. The resolution of your screen directly affects the FPS that you are going to get. And, considering the specs of the gaming laptops under 80000, you can easily play most of the AAA games at 1080p resolution with more than 60FPS.
1080p monitors are a popular choice even if you consider gaming PCs because 4K gaming at 60FPS is still a difficult thing to achieve with current-gen hardware. So, going for a 1080p display is often considered a smart move if you are looking for smooth gameplay while being on a budget.
Don’t ignore the display refresh rate
The display refresh rate is often ignored by most of the gamers. In simple words, the display refresh rate is the maximum FPS that can be viewed on a screen. This means that if your monitor’s refresh rate is 60Hz, you won’t be able to view more than 60FPS even if your system is capable of giving you more than that.
In such cases, the display ends up being a bottleneck for your system. So, do yourselves a favor, and try to stay away from laptops with a 60Hz display.
It doesn’t mean that 60Hz is bad, but the thing is that here we are talking about gaming laptops, and being a gamer, you should always go for the best.
Laptop CPUs in this price range
You get 3-4 options when it comes to CPUs while buying a laptop under 80000. Two popular choices in this range are – core i5-9300H and Ryzen 7-3750H.
The 9th gen core i5 processor has a base clock speed of 2.40GHz, 4 cores, and 8 threads. Coming to Ryzen 7, you get the same number of cores but a different clock speed of 2.30GHz. So, it should go without saying that the 9th gen i5 processor is better.
When it comes to gaming, the 9th gen i5 processor can get you 4-6 more frames than the Ryzen 7. It’s not too much, but as I said before, always go for the best.
How to boost your gaming laptop’s performance
Now, most of you might know this but even then it’s worth sharing that gaming laptops work more efficiently while they are being charged. Manufacturers build laptops in a way that they consume less power. This is necessary to ensure that your laptop gives you a satisfactory battery backup.
And due to this, most of the times, you don’t get to see your laptop working at its full potential. A simple solution to this problem, is to use your laptop while it’s plugged in.
Let’s bust a myth now. Using a laptop while it’s being charged doesn’t harm its battery life.In fact, most of the laptops are designed to be used while they are plugged in. So, now you know how to get the most out of the laptop that you are going to buy.
